The Mokume layers, composed of silver 925 and copper, are furnished after a pickling treatment in order to clean them from dirty and oxides and get a natural pattern, silver and copper both with their own original, distinctive colour.
The layers are now ready to the subsequent mechanical processing.
Different surface treatments make gradations, shades, visual and tactile sensations change as well as their "warmth". Surface treatments could be: polishing, glazing, brushing, obviously everyone can try out the technique to bring out the patterns, the grains and the textures of metal that meet better his own requirements, just by varying the metod of manipulation. The layers fit theirself to many uses such as laminating, soldering(welding) and many other applications, but considering of course the same cautions as similar metal alloys. I can suggest you the solution for the "Patina" I have been testing for many years, to enhance the look of the copper and
obtain a range of colour from pale to deep brown.
The mokume technique, with his unique patterns and textures improves creativeness and increases the value of your items. Immerse the piece into the solution, checking periodically until it reaches the desired colour.
Then, after the solution bath, brush with soap, rinse in clean running water, pat with a clean cloth and protect the surface with a thin coating of wax. |

Soluzione per ottenere il rame dal colore marrone chiaro al marrone scuro. L'operatore noterà il cambio del colore e a sua discrezione lo estrarrà dalla soluzione , lo sciacquerà con del detersivo strofinandolo con uno spazzolino. Asciugata la lamina la strofinerà con una pezzuola e un pò di cera superlucidante per vernice così da togliere le ombre nell'argento.
